I photographed Olivia and JD on a bright day in June. They came from the USA for a vacation on Lake Como and they contacted me as they would like to do their engagement session in this wonderful place.
They were looking for candid photos, like a day together at Lake Como on the water. The gardens of Villa Melzi d’Eril in Bellagio, which run along the water with their green grass, were just the perfect setting as they wanted romantic images with a touch of glamour, which was certainly accentuated by the lovely blue dress by Olivia, in macramé lace.
While we were walking, they told me their story, giving me permission to share it with you.
JD and I had met in college 5 years ago right before summer break. He was leaving for the summer for an internship in Italy, which meant we wouldn’t be able to spend any time together before the new school year began. One day soon after school ended that year, I received an itinerary from him to fly me out to Italy to see him! It was the most romantic and special thing anyone has done for me. We began dating soon after and since getting engaged a couple of months ago we decided to head back to Italy where we had so much fun together that summer! We knew it’d be the perfect place to take our engagement photos too. The best part of our vacation was exploring Lake Como and all of the beautiful villas, we couldn’t believe we actually got to take our photos at one!
Once back in America they sent me an email telling me how much this trip meant for them, coming back to the land they had fallen in love with each other and how much my photographs now mean for them. These are the emails I print and keep in a box on my desk, as this reminds me how precious is to create the wonderful memories I have the privilege to take pictures of.
