A few months ago I received an email from Randy that was planning for his wife René the sweetest surprise ever: a trip to Italy to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. He was looking to memorialize this milestone with some pictures that would capture the emotion of the event and the moment of the renewal of their vows for the next 25 years. Just the two of them, in a beautiful Lake Como setting. I sent him some different itineraries and he finally chose Bellagio that I think is one of the most representative locations since it offers a big variety of scenarios: the lake and mountain view, the quiet and charme of a typical village, a beautiful small beach, coloured houses and blooming trees all around the lanes.
We spent two great hours walking down the tiny streets of this gorgeous town and at a certain point I took them to one of my favorite locations: a door with a wall covered with a particular kind of ivy. There they were able to sit on the steps, relax and breathe the lake air. And while I was photographing them from a distance, they picked out from their bag a small paper and read their promises, laughing and crying at the same time. It had been so intimate, true and authentic that I even moved!
