Chey, Siuli, Mika and Khai Lee are a group of friends living in different countries. They organised this girls weekend to get together and spend some time having fun in Venice. They were looking for some photos that would reflect their camaraderie and friendship, so asked me to photograph them against a grand Venetian background. We decided to start the session at sunrise, to miss the crowds and take advantage of the gorgeous sunrise light. Piazza San Marco at dawn was truly amazing: the sun rised behind the Punta della Dogana and the square was so quiet that seemed unreal! After some photos in front of the Palazzo Ducale and the Basilica di San Marco, we walked along the narrow lanes (in Venice called calli) to enjoy an ice cream, that is absolutely one of the most iconic things of my beautiful country, and we did a photographic tour to the Rialto Bridge, from where the girls continued their visit to the city.
I loved this photo session! Photographing the complicity and love between the girls was so touching to me. At the end of the shoot my wishes were just two: to take a flight to an art city with my girlfriends and to buy one of those wonderful lace dresses that the girls were wearing. The blue one, please!
